Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) is a stock, non-profit corporation established on October 12, 1948. It is engaged in the education sector in Western Mindanao providing secondary and tertiary education, technical education, and graduate programs to young adults and lifelong learners who desire quality education. It is one of the pioneers of higher education in the Zamboanga Peninsula and has become one of the cityÕs important landmarks where the oldest campus stands proudly right at the heart of the city. Zamboanga City is considered the capital of Western Mindanao in Region IX.
As of 2020, there are One Hundred Four (104) Higher Education Institution (HEI) operating in Region-IX to include External Study Units of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). Fifty-Three (53) Private HEIs, Six (6) SUC, One (1) Recognized Local College, Forty-Nine (49) External Study Units of SUCs.
There are about 102,000 students enrolled in both the private and public institutions and 59,708 are enrolled at SUCs and 42,342 are enrolled at Private HEIs. The university caters to approximately 21% market share in Zamboanga City amongst all college institutions and is one of the four (4) universities operating within the city of Zamboanga.
The university provides secondary programs in two of its High School units and offers over Sixty (60) programs in its esteemed tertiary and postgraduate levels. UZ is proud of its distinctions with 20% of its programs accredited by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). It has also been an ISO PNS 9001 certified since 2002 and migrated to ISO PNS 9001:2015 standard. It is also an Investors in People accredited for people management and certified in the ISO 45001:2018 standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

To be considered, companies had to meet the Great Place to Work-Certified™
standard. Trust Index©️ survey results are accurate to a 95% confidence level with a 5% margin of error or better to ensure the survey results truly represent all employees.
We review any anomalies in survey responses, news and financial performance to ensure there aren’t any extraordinary reasons to believe we couldn’t trust a company’s survey results.
Companies with 10 to 99 people were considered for the Small category.
Companies with 100 employees or more were considered for the Medium category.
Companies exceeding 1,000 employees were considered for the Large category.
ABOUT OUR METHOLOGY
To be eligible for the World’s Best Workplaces list, a company must apply and be named to a minimum of 5 national Best Workplaces lists within our current 58 countries, have 5,000 employees or more worldwide, and at least 40% of the company’s workforce (or 5,000 employees) must be based outside of the home country. Extra points are given based on the number of countries where a company surveys employees with the Great Place to Work Trust Index©, and the percentage of a company’s workforce represented by all Great Place to Work surveys globally. Candidates for the 2017 Worlds Best Workplaces list will have appeared on national workplaces lists published in September 2016 through August 2017.

Great Place to Work® identifies the top organizations that create great workplaces in the Asian and Middle Eastern regions with the publication of the annual Best Workplaces in Asia list. The list recognizes companies in three size categories:
To be considered for inclusion, companies must appear on one or more of our national lists in the region, which includes Greater China (covering China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau), India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and UAE.
